Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNO): Amid increase in Coronavirus positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir, the national preparedness survey on COVID-19 has revealed that inadequate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is the major challenge in the districts of the Union Territory. According to highlights of the report released by Prime Minister’s Office, Jammu & Kashmir districts have said that major challenge “lies in inadequate personal protection equipment”. As per wire-service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the report prepared by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DAPRG) is based on feedback collected from 266 IAS officers of 2014-18 batch. The exercise was conducted by the PMO to assess the challenges being faced in India while tackling the biggest health crisis faced by the country after 1947. The medicos and paramedics in J&K have been complaining about non-availability of personnel protection gears for those involved in screening and testing of suspected COVID-19 patients. As per KNO, last month, the Doctors Association Kashmir also wrote to the government to complain that hospitals in Kashmir were short of “proper and adequate personnel protection gear especially N95 Masks, PVC coated gowns, goggles and other equipments.” With three more testing positive today in Jammu & Kashmir, the number of such cases in the UT has gone up to 109. Of them 88 positive cases were found in Kashmir and 21 in Jammu. This also includes two deaths and four recoveries of coronavirus positive patients—(KNO)
